Would You Like To Marry Me?

Remember the beginning
When we started out as friends?
Who would have ever known
That this is how it all would end

Back then I was unhappy
But you somehow came along
And when I was hurt and crying out
You helped me to be strong

Now we live together
In our cozy little home
And though it's not the best there is
At least we're not alone

And now, I can't believe it
There's a baby on the way!
A life that we've created
Through a love that's here to stay

I've never been as happy
As I am, right now, with you
But I'm afraid I'm not as happy
As I could be, this is true

There's a way I could be happier
Than any time in life
And the way for this to happen
Is if you would be my wife

So now it is official
The question, it will be:
My darling, dearest Julie
Would you like to marry me?

I can't promise you a mansion
Nor a brand new fancy car
But I can promise you I'll love you
For the person that you are

And together we can build a life
And make a happy home
And in the evening summer sunshine
We can watch our children roam

So I'll leave you now to ponder
On the question I have asked
And I'll hope and pray that finally
You'll become my wife at last
