Poetry

Poems are the poet's dreams
His dreams of life and love and things
Written down straight from the heart
A heart that's loved or torn apart

Poems are the poet's life
They tell of good times and of strife
Yet poems are the poet's songs
The songs of minstrels others long

He weaves the words of magic spells
Within the stories that he tells
He makes us laugh, he makes us cry
With tales of love and sad goodbies

Read them and they'll give you hope
Whene'er you feel you cannot cope
They'll lift you up when you are down
They'll make you smile when you frown

They're feelings frozen on a rhyme
Memories of distant times
Emotions that have been revealed
There for all to see and feel

Poems are the poets way
Of saying all he has to say
And all of this, they are to me
These magic words of poetry
