Here I am at Christmas
In a winter wonderland
With no waves upon the beach
And no castles in the sand
I look around and all I see
Is snow upon the ground
In the trees and on the rooftops
Always falling without sound
I lie awake at night and think
My God, what have I done?
My days were lit so brightly
Now I rarely see the sun
Symbolic of my happiness
I rarely see it shine
And the love we shared together
Is now overcast with time
The snowflakes fall like frozen tears
The coldness of lost love
No rainbows shine to touch my heart
Like feathers on a dove
I long to be with you again
In castles on the beach
Alas! This wave's across the sea
And too far out of reach
I may, one day, come rolling in
And crash upon your shore
To be trapped inside your castle in the sand
forevermore
