What Friends Are For

The clouds were raining sunshine
The rain was burning hot
I've been hurt exceedingly
More often times than not

The day we met, I was crying
Going through hell, emotionally dying
You had a way of making me smile
Which no one's been able to do in awhile

It seems I've known you ten years or more
And yet we met just two nights before
So if you ever need a friend
I'll be here 'til the very end

If you come to me with your regrets
I'll be the one to help you forget
And should someone hurt you even more
I'll be here...that's what friends were for
